French Team Back at Jannu Base Camp, Begins Acclimatization

The French expedition aiming for Jannu’s east face has returned to base camp after two nights at Khambachen. Benjamin Vedrines shared that the team, now a week into their journey, is preparing for a month-long expedition.

Afternoons are devoted to climbing up to 5,700 meters to acclimatize. Vedrines noted that the trails, cairns, and barrhals remain unchanged, and the face is in decent shape, though a bit more snow is needed for optimal conditions.

This morning, the team reached 6,100 meters, marking their first higher bivouac attempt. Despite challenging weather, including snow and rain, Vedrines highlighted the magical quality of the landscape in the shifting light.

The climbers continue to monitor conditions closely as they progress toward the ascent.
