Polish climber Oswald Rodrigo Pereira has joined Simone Moro and Nima Rinji Sherpa in Nepal as they prepare for a winter attempt on 8,163m Manaslu.

Pereira recently completed a remarkably fast acclimatization ascent of Mera Peak (6,476m) in Nepal’s Khumbu region, just days after arriving in the country. His climb was part of preparations for the upcoming winter expedition.

Moro and Nima Rinji had summited Mera Peak a day earlier as part of their own acclimatization program. Pereira followed with an impressive solo ascent, climbing from Khare (4,880m) to the summit in a single push – a gain of 1,600 vertical meters in 6 hours and 15 minutes

What stands out most is the overall timeline of Pereira’s effort. Only 61 hours passed between his departure from Poland and his arrival on the summit of Mera Peak.

Pereira credited his rapid acclimatization to pre-expedition preparation, saying that the work he carried out using a hypoxic tent before traveling to Nepal is paying off.

The trio plans to reach Manaslu Base Camp on December 21, aligning their schedule with the start of the winter climbing season.
